On September 20, the School of Mechanical Engineering held the overseas study and exchange symposium for the summer of 2024 successfully in Conference Room B610. Counselor Wang Xianliang and students participating in the summer overseas study attended the meeting, which was hosted by Counselor Wan Yichen.
Firstly, at the symposium, Wan Yichen congratulated the students on successfully completing the summer overseas study program and highly praised their performance. To ensure the smooth completion of the funding application process, Wan Yichen also introduced the procedures and important considerations for applying for overseas exchange funding to the students.
Next, the students took turns sharing their experiences and insights from their overseas studies. During this summer's offline overseas study, three students traveled to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan for academic research. They introduced their overseas study experiences from multiple perspectives at the symposium, sharing their encounters with different cultural environments and famous scenic spots. They also described how they experienced diverse educational models and teaching environments at prestigious international universities, which significantly broadened their global perspective and deepened their understanding of foreign environments.Additionally, the students spoke about how they experienced international teaching methods in a global classroom setting and formed close friendships with peers from different schools. They collaborated on project tasks, delivered English presentations, and wrote academic papers, which notably enhanced their interpersonal skills, spoken foreign language abilities, and teamwork spirit. Finally, Wan Yichen expressed that after listening to the students' reports, he could clearly sense their growth and transformation. Compared to the pre-departure meeting, they appeared more confident and cheerful, with a deeper understanding of the international environment. He fully endorsed their reports.
The School of Mechanical Engineering has always prioritized cultivating students' international perspectives, continuously accumulating and learning from students' overseas study experiences and striving to create an excellent international study and exchange platform for them. This symposium delved into the students' gains and changes in mindset during their overseas studies, contributing to the advancement of the college's international exchange programs to a higher level.
